Lumbar Back

What is it called when a portion of the lumbar region of the back is too loose?

I recently got into a car accident and am going to physical therapy. The therapist said my vertebrae are quite a bit looser than they should be and go in too far when I lean back. Is there a term for this?

The term for the displacement is spondylolisthesis, or anterolisthesis which indicates the forward displacement of one vertebra over the one below it (the prefix anter- means toward the front and spondyl- is a root term for vertebra).
The instability (loosening) is called spondylolysis. The two often occur together in hyperextension injuries (spondylolysis and spondylolisthesis). It sounds like you have more than one vertebra that is displacing. I’m posting some information for you……………….
